Welcome to the Griep Lab Home Page

Summer 2006:
Chris Frey and Griep
Here is a link to the Griep Lab Alumni page. Find out what they're doing now.

Hi! I'm Mark Griep and I'm an Associate Professor of Chemistry at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. My lab studies the enzymes and proteins involved in lagging strand DNA synthesis.

Our main focus is the enzyme primase but we also study helicase, SSB, and DNA polymerase III holoenzyme because they interact with primase. If you would like some scientific details about what we do, here's my reference list.

I received my Ph.D. in Biochemistry at The University of Minnesota and then did postdoctoral research at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Now I'm in Lincoln where I really enjoy living because my soul mate lives here.

When I'm not writing grant proposals,
attending seminars , doing research, or teaching either

I enjoy producing and showing the art work I create with my soulmate ,
collecting old UNL postcards,
researching my family's history,
researching a bit of UNL Chemistry history ,
watching movies,
listening to Elvis and Captain Beefheart, and
going on postconvention trips with my wife.

I hope you learn something while you visit my website. If you would like to contact me, you can send me an email to mgriep1@unl.edu. Most of all, though, I hope you'll want to join my lab as a graduate student or postdoc. In which case, I really want to hear from you!

Before I sign off I want to link to GIF89a for allowing me to create the replication fork movie.
